GDPR. What does it mean for businesses?

secure data

You may or may not be aware, that from 25th May 2018, there are new data protection regulations coming into force.

What does this mean for you?

This means that any data your company holds, whether it has been collated through your website or other means, will need to be compliant with the regulations. In short, the consumer must have agreed to receive contact from and have given consent to store their details.

What action should you take?

Your website will need really clear opt-in methods, listing what information they will receive; whether it is news, offers etc. You also need good records of consent and simple easy-to-access ways for people to withdraw consent.

How does this affect your current data?

The database that you currently hold will need to be verified in order for you to continue using it for marketing purposes. This verification can be done by sending an email out to the data, asking them to opt-in. This process needs to take place before the 25th of May 2018.

Please note: It is your responsibility to ensure that you are compliant before 25th May 2018. For more information, or to discuss with our team, give us a call on 01282 685430.
