On 15 November, they're heading to Kenya as part of the Clarets in Kenya 2026 initiative, supporting improvements to Naivasha Highway Comprehensive and its learning environment for local children.

The trip is taking place with Burnley FC in the Community, an organisation we're proud to partner with at Root Fifty-Two, and is facilitated by African Adventures.

Why Kimberley is taking part

For Kimberley, the decision comes from a long-standing desire to give something back and make a practical difference. Having the opportunity to share that experience with Maisie makes it even more meaningful.

They'll be travelling as part of a wider group that includes representatives from other Burnley businesses, working alongside local builders, school staff and volunteers.

From 17 to 20 November, they'll be spending time at the school, supporting the projects identified as priorities by the people who know it best.

The work could involve building, painting, repairs and maintenance, alongside opportunities to support teaching and sports activities.

“"I've always felt that if you're in a position to help, you should try to do something with it. It's how I was raised, and it's shaped a lot of the fundraising I've done for other charities over the years. For me, this trip is about giving our time, getting properly involved and supporting a project that can make a real difference to the school.

Doing it with Maisie is a big thing for me, too. I want her to see first-hand the importance of getting involved, helping where you can and appreciating the opportunities we have. I'm sure it'll be hard work, but that's exactly what we're going there for." said Kimberley.

How we're supporting the project

Root Fifty-Two is covering the cost of Kimberley and Maisie's participation in the trip, allowing them to dedicate their time to the volunteering experience.

We're also contributing towards the purchase of practical essentials, including toiletries and basic amenities, to be donated locally during their time in Kenya.

And we'd love to give our clients, contacts and the wider business community the opportunity to get involved too.

Could your business get involved?

We're inviting local businesses, clients and supporters to get behind the charitable effort through our T-shirt sponsorship opportunity.

Businesses can sponsor Kimberley and Maisie and have their company logo featured on the T-shirts they'll wear while volunteering in Kenya, providing a visible way to show their support for the initiative.

We'll also be recognising sponsors through our communications, including updates and photographs from the trip.

There are a limited number of logo placements available, with different sponsorship options depending on the size and position of the branding.

If your business would like to sponsor a T-shirt, or you'd simply like to find out how to contribute, please contact Kimberley at kimberley@rootfiftytwo.co.uk.

Supporting our community, at home and further afield

We're particularly pleased that Kimberley and Maisie are taking part through Burnley FC in the Community.

As one of their partners, we've seen how much importance they place on using sport and community connections to create a positive impact.

Clarets in Kenya brings that community spirit to an international project, while fundraising connected to the initiative also supports Burnley FC in the Community's charitable work closer to home.

We'll be sharing updates as Kimberley and Maisie prepare for their trip, along with photographs and reflections from their experience in Kenya.

For now, we're incredibly proud to see them taking on this challenge, and we hope some of you will be able to get behind them.
