After her father was diagnosed with a primary brain tumour in January 2019, our Director, Kimberley, became very involved in his care, attending consultancy appointments and conducting research around his condition in an attempt to learn as much as she could about what her dad was going through.

In an effort to help with raising awareness of the condition, Kimberley has been working hard in a new partnership with The Brain Tumour Charity, as a BRIAN Champion supporting the testing of a new App (BRIAN) designed to help those who have been diagnosed with a brain tumour, as well as their loved ones and those who care for them.

“I think my background in marketing and my experience with design and UX has really helped me to get the most out of this new role. Aside from helping with user testing for this upcoming project, I’ve also been working alongside one of our designers, Michael, to support with creating the visuals for the charity’s planned advertising campaigns, which will include producing marketing materials in digital and print format.”

Kimberley’s passion for print marketing was ignited by the work of her dad, who owned a printing company (LBH Litho) in Blackburn for over 25 years, before retiring from the printing industry in 2010. In memory of her dad, and to support The Brain Tumour Charity moving forward, Kimberley has now set a plan into place which, from January 2021, will see all of R52’s print projects raise money for the charity, with 7.5% of the funds earned for each job being donated to the cause.

“Before conducting my research and becoming more involved with The Brain Tumour Charity, I don’t think I ever fully realised just how many lives this condition impacts, and I’m glad that now, being involved with generating marketing ideas and strategies for the charity, I can be a part of the effort to raise awareness around the condition.

“Sadly, my lovely father recently lost his battle, but as a family we can take solace in the fact that he received excellent care following his diagnosis, and he’s now at peace. I’m hoping that the amazing work currently being carried out by The Brain Tumour Charity will benefit future patients, and help us all to understand a little bit more about brain tumours, their causes and effects.”

Ian Harper was a loving son, husband, father, brother and grandfather, who was always happiest when spending time with his family or strapped into his boots, rambling around popular walking routes of Pendle. His funeral took place on Thursday 8th October 2020, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
